Mary Ellen Yung

Mary Ellen Yung, 88 years old, who resided in Oxnard, California died at her home on November 15, 2018, after a lengthy illness. Mary was born in Houlka, Mississippi on April 24, 1930, to Elizabeth Stafford nee Akin and Ellie B. Stafford. She was a resident of Oxnard, California and a homemaker for over 70 years.

Mary was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxnard participating in the church choir, LWML, as well as volunteering in the church /school office. She and her husband Walt were faithful in their study of God's Word and took part in weekly bible study.  She also enjoyed participating in the German Club and loved their End of Year Celebrations as they welcomed in the New Year in by dancing with their German friends. Her love for travel was evident as she traveled extensively to the Far East, Middle East, Asia, and Europe, however, her most favorite place to travel was Hawaii. She enjoyed the pristine beaches and warm tropical weather that the 50th state has to offer. Mary loved to entertain, shop and watch Gone With the Wind.

She is survived by her longtime soul mate Walter whom she was married to for 67 years. Together they had four children; Christine Boerrigter of Palos Verdes, Cheryl Wetenkamp of Simi Valley, Walter III of Camarillo and Carol Boerrigter of Oxnard. She is survived by three grandchildren; Kyle,34 of Simi Valley; Lindsay, 30 of Texas and Carly, 28 of Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. John's Lutheran Church 1500 North C Street, Oxnard, California would be welcomed.
