Maria Fernandez was born and raised in Tangancicuaro, Michoacan on October 3, 1945 and arrived in Oxnard in 1975 where she lived for 43 years; she built a family and a strong community of devoted friends. Maria was a community activist and a part of various public organizations in around La Colonia Village. She was an adventurous traveler, dancing queen, loyal companion, giving friend and super grandma. In her spare time, Maria loved arts and crafts, knitting, singing, gardening, and taking care of her grandchildren. Maria was always full of life and was loved and appreciated by those who knew her. She was notorious for her charming smile and her contagious laugh and was always the life of the party.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Antonio Fernandez Zaragoza and her eight children: Guadalupe, Lourdes, Tony, Josue, Olga, Rocio, Sharon, and Crystal. Furthermore, she is survived by her nine adoring grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, the Martinez family, and her amazing group of friends. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Roberto and Mariana Martinez.

Thank you for loving our mom as much as we did.
