Lorraine Denise Chavira

Lorraine Denise Chavira, 28, left us Tuesday, November 13, 2018 in Oxnard CA.

She was born on May 8, 1990, in Oxnard CA, the daughter of Sandra Chavira and Abdul Moem Yasin.

Lorraine is the youngest of 6, 3 brothers, Larry Chavira, July Gutierrez, David Gutierrez and 2 sisters Deborah Gutierrez and Brenda Velasquez.

Lorraine married Richard A Torres on June 24, 2016 in Pensacola, FL.

She graduated from Hueneme HS and also attended Oxnard College where she studied biochemistry and earned her Associates Degree. While attending school, Lorraine worked for Ralph’s supermarket. She then moved on and worked for a gas company for a short period of time. She joined the US Navy February 23, 2016 and was an active Aviation Electronics Technician Petty Officer Third Class where she was part of the drone project.

Lorraine was beautiful, loving, caring and happy. All who knew Lorraine adored her.  Lorraine was funny with a memorable laugh and had a beautiful smile that lit up the room. She was outgoing and liked to hike, go for bike rides, kayak and even went bungee jumping. She enjoyed watching movies, going to plays and loved to read. Lorraine was very smart. She was a foodie for sure, always trying different types of food. Most importantly Lorraine was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with her family and friends. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by Grandparents Peter and Ruth Chavira, Aunt Gloria Chavira Curiel, Uncles Johnny and Steven Chavira and Great niece Alani Rose Melendez.

Surviving,  in addition to her husband, Richard Torres, Oxnard CA are her mother Sandra Gutierrez, Oxnard CA, siblings  Larry Chavira, Oxnard CA, Deborah Gutierrez, Oxnard CA, July Gutierrez, Phoenix AZ,  Brenda Velasquez, Oxnard CA and David Gutierrez, Oxnard CA; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws.  

Memorial Service will be held at Port Mugu Naval Base Thursday, November 29, 2018 and starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. Please arrive early. Shuttle ride assistance will be provided. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery & Mortuary, 2370 N. H Street, Oxnard, CA 93036
