Katherine Malinitis

Katherine Malinits, 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep May 10 2018 in Oxnard, California where she had resided for 54 years. Her husband Ernest passed away in 2005; they were married for 63 years. Katharine was born in Hungary in 1920 and grew up during the turbulent aftermath of World War One. She met Ernest during World War II and they were married in 1942 and later she gave birth to their daughter, Clara.

She and her young family fled Hungary in the aftermath of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. They came to the United States in pursuit of freedom from a brutal communist regime as Hungary was a former satellite country of the Soviet Union. When they came to the United States, life wasn't easy, their determination to work hard and become productive citizens and forge a better life for their family in their new homeland led them to relentlessly persevere to make their aspirations a reality. They became productive model citizens and provided a new life for themselves. They were loving examples of overcoming adversity by faith in God, hard work and never giving up when life was difficult. They left behind their country of origin, culture, and family and friends and learned a new language and made new friends.

Katherine had a childcare business for many years because she loved children, later, she lavished her years of childcare experience on her cherished grandchildren Susan, George, Tom, Brian, Paul and Elizabeth. She was the grandma who will always be remembered for her willingness to play games, make crafts, cook and bake healthy entrees and listen with full attention. She went to be with her Lord, Jesus on May 10, 2018.
