It is with great sadness that the immediate family of our beautiful mother, Irene C. Mendez Calderon announces her passing on Monday, August 6, 2018.  She is now in our Lords loving arms watching over all her 60+ beautiful grandchildren.  She was born on June 4, 1934, to her dear parents Alberto and Hope V. Mendez.

She will be lovingly remembered by her dear family Carmen Mendez Calderon, Adeline Gomez (Manual), Clara Mendez, Sarita Calderon, Gloria Mendez (Julian) and Jesse Mendez Sr (Liz); and preceded in death are her children Irene, Richard, Caroline and Alberto Calderon.

Her siblings are Bennie, Epi (Anna), Johnny (Rosa), Jesse (Irene) Eddie (Melissa) and deceased sisters Rachel, Lupe, Evelyn and brother Hugh.

She had great faith in prayer for her family and friends especially all her beloved grandchildren as she wanted nothing but the best for them.

She worked various jobs during her life but especially enjoyed caring for children in the Head Start Program as well as helping with the elderly.

To pass the time she enjoyed spending time doing word search puzzles and watching her old TV programs of yesteryears. Every now and then she would put a few coins at casino one-armed-bandits and knew exactly when to quit after she won.

A special thanks of appreciation goes to her grandchildren James Rojo Jr, Irene Maldonado, Teresa Castro and Tomas Castro Jr who were a constant help in her later years as her health started taking its toll on her.

Her strength in independence, wit, love of family and friends, faith, laughter and never being fooled will be her legacy that will carry on.  She will forever be missed and never forgotten. Mom your hard work on earth is done as you have been called to do Gods work in heaven.
