Bobby Ray Pleasant Sr.

Bobby Ray Pleasant, Sr., 87 was born on October 10, 1931, resided in Oxnard, California. He entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at his home after a sudden illness. 

Bobby was born in Sherman, Texas to Oscar Raydell and Mildred Pleasant. He became a resident of Oxnard, California in 1951, after he was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. He accepted the Lord and joined the Music Street Church of Christ at a very early age in Sherman, Texas. He had been a devout member and servant of the Oxnard Church of Christ until his death. He became employed at the Port Hueneme CBC Base in 1968 until his retirement in 1991. He was employed as Channel Islands High School as a Campus Supervisor from 1992 to 2005. He was owner of Bob's and Boys Barbecue Restaurant after his retirement. He was passionate about coaching football and baseball. He coached both youth and high school football and baseball for over 50 years. His hobbies also included cooking, mentoring youth, being a handyman and gardening but most of all showing love to wife, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all of his family members. 

He is survived by his wife, Renomia, with whom he had been married for over 64 years, his sons, Bobby Pleasant, Jr., (Relonda) and Calvin Pleasant and a daughter, Lynda Pleasant Lyghts (Huelon); five grandchildren, Jason Pleasant (Nicole), Yuvonne "Necee" Russell, and Katie Pleasant Bowman (Kenneth); seven grandchildren, Jahjuan Sattiewhite, Erikah Russell, Skylar and Ashton Pleasant, Kaylee, Kenneth Jr. and Kynnedi Bowman, Isaiah, Calvin and Shiloh Pleasant; brother, Theodore Pleasant and sister, Maryann Holland and a host of nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandchild, Tawana Pleasant, brothers, Welby, Sidney, Robert Billy Marvin and Michael Pleasant, sisters, Johnnie Mae Jerrall, Essie Fae McHanny, Mildred Wannamaker and Ruth Henson.
