Harold Ceja, a beloved resident of Oxnard for over 65 years, passed away at the age of 88. Harold was born in Saginaw, Michigan, but Oxnard was truly his home. He worked hard throughout his life, starting as a produce field worker, and later driving trucks for various companies. His dedication and work ethic were inspiring.
But Harold's impact on the community extended far beyond his work. He was an active and enthusiastic advocate for the Colonia neighborhood and the City of Oxnard for decades. From the 1980’s onwards, he devoted countless hours volunteering his time and energy to make Oxnard a better place.
Harold cared deeply about the community and believed in the power of residents to make a difference. He was instrumental in many important initiatives, including the Ramona Elementary School board's emphasis on community and parental input. He played a key role in the development of the Colonia Gymnasium and swimming pool, ensuring that local youths had a place to play and learn.
Harold also helped plan and develop the neighborhood clean-up in the Colonia and the structure of the Third Street Overpass, leaving a legacy in the city. His tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to Oxnard's growth and improvement will be missed.
Harold Ceja was more than just a hardworking man; he was a dedicated community servant. His life serves as an example of the power of one person's commitment to making a positive impact. He will be remembered and missed by all who know him.
Rest in peace, Harold. Your legacy lives on in the vibrant Oxnard community you worked so hard to build and improve.
