Taro Jusho Inouye
Beloved Father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Taro J. Inouye, 93, of Oxnard, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2014 in Ventura after struggling with Alzheimer's Disease for several years.
Taro was born on May 16, 1921, to Yoritaro and Tome Inouye in Venice, Ca. He was a resident of Oxnard for 81 years. After graduating from Oxnard High School in 1940, he was among the Japanese Americans that were sent to the internment camp in Gila River, Az. during World War II. After the war he was drafted into the U.S. Army and Later married his wife of 68 years, Thune Makimoto whom he met in the internment camp.
Taro was a landscape gardener in Oxnard for 42 years, retiring in 1989. He was President of the Oxnard Gardener's Association in 1954-1964 and enjoyed helping the group create the garden exhibits at the Ventura County Fairs. He Loved fishing, cars, stock car drag racing and photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Yoritaro and Tome Inouye and his wife Tsune. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Edward Heffelfinger of Ventura, Ca. and Bonnie and David Crocker of Lake Toxaway, NC; 4 grandsons, Gregory (Melissa) Heffelfinger of Ventura; Scott Heffelfinger of Oxnard; Brent (Shellie) Crocker of Greer, SC; and Bryan Crocker of Simpsonville, SC; 5 Great-grandchildren, Isabella and Penelope Crocker of Greer, SC.; and Jordan Heffelfinger of Ventura, Ca; two sisters, Yoshiko Muto of Fairfield, CA and Hideko Tokuda of Los Angeles, CA and nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed. We would also like to thank the staff of Treacy Villa in Ventura for the wonderful care he recieved the past few years and to Assisted Hospice Care.
As requested there will be no funeral service. Internment will be at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. He is under the care of the family owned and operated Reardon Funeral Home, 511 North A st, Oxnard. www.reardonfh.com
