Peter Paul Smart

July 24, 1931 - September 12, 2014

Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and rescuer of dogs passed away with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife Angie, children Greg and Debbie, stepchildren Gene and Nina, brother Chuck, sisters Marrietta and Carol, and four step grandchildren.

Pete was born in Louisville, Colorado where he grew up and played football in high school. He enlisted in the Navy as an MP during the Korean War and was stationed in Port Hueneme, California. He was honorably discharged and made Oxnard his home.

He began his career in law enforcement as a police officer with Oxnard Police Department and retired as a senior investigator for the Ventura County District Attorney's office. Pete started a second career as a private investigator and devoted much of his leisure time and resources to his passion for animals, rescuing and finding homes for neglected dogs. Pete was happiest when at home with his family and dogs.
