Lupe Zavala Obituary
With heavy hearts the family of Lupe H Zavala announce her passing on March 13, 2015. We have lost our wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother but have gained another angel. Lupe was welcomed into heaven by her mother Seferina Hernandez and her beloved son Joe "Pepe" Zavala who preceded her in death.
Lupe was born in Ventura, CA on November 24, 1948 and was the oldest of 4 children born to Jose and Seferina Hernandez. She was a lifetime Ventura County resident.
During her working years, she was employed as a teacher's aide for the Hueneme School District. Lupe loved all children especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and watching old movies. Lupe played softball on several family teams and supported her children in various team sports.
Lupe is survived by her husband of 47 years Thomas Y Zavala, her children Thomas (Julie) Zavala, Mark (Monica) Zavala, Oscar (Bobbie) Zavala, Frank (Michelle) Zavala, and Laura Zavala, her father Jose R Hernandez and her siblings, Yolanda (Joseph) Schultz, Armando (Cynthia) Hernandez, and Jose F Hernandez. Lupe was the loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20 from 5pm-9pm at Reardon Funeral Home in Oxnard. The Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church in Oxnard on Saturday, March 21 at 9:00 am. Burial services will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
