Ella Clara Sieland, born on the family farm in Oxnard on January 29, 1912, passed away peacefully at her home in Hueneme Bay on December 18, 2014.
She was the middle child of three daughters. Her sisters, Marie Tack and Agnes O'Connor preceded her in death. Her parents, Sophia and Otto Kohler, were pioneer residents of Ventura County.
She attended Ocean View School, graduated from Oxnard High School with the Class of 1930, and subsequently graduated from Santa Barbara Business College.
She married Henry Sieland on December 16, 1939 at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard. Widowed in 1963, she spent her remaining years volunteering with the St. John's Hospital Auxiliary, always maintaining a lovely garden, caring for relatives and friends, traveling extensively, and visiting often with her children, grandchildren, and, most recently, with her new great grandson, all of whom she loved very much.
Surviving her are two daughters--Ann Woody (John) of San Antonio, Texas, Clare Conley (James) of Tucson, Arizona, grandson David Woody of Los Alamos, New Mexico, granddaughter Kathryn Woody Burn (Michael), great grandson Alan Henry Burn of San Francisco, nephew Michael T. O'Connor, niece Mary Agnes Brodersen, both of Ventura, as well as very special friends Debbie and Dennis Dietz, Nadine Houk, Liz Pinkard, Hope and Dora Lopez, Evelyn Muser, and Ann Ryan.
Her family extends heartfelt thanks to Dorothy Farah of New Hope Senior Services, to Mary Ann Roque, April Caysip, Hannah Taquiqui, and Dairy Banez of Hearten Home Health Services, as well as to Buena Vista Hospice Care for their competent and caring support.
In addition, special thanks go out to her doctors--Josephine Soliz, M.D., Richard Rothschild, M.D., Ann Kelley, M.D., and Tane Liu, M.D.
